University of Utah's Entrepreneurship MBA Ranked 12th in US

May 8, 2024, Salt Lake City, Utah

The University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business ranks No. 12 overall (No. 5 among public schools) in the latest 2024 MBA rankings for entrepreneurship released recently by US News and World Report.

In related rankings released earlier from US News and World Report, the Eccles School ranked No. 7 for undergraduate entrepreneurship (No. 4 among public schools) for 2024.

The rankings reflect ongoing growth and development of entrepreneurship offerings at the Eccles School, its Department of Entrepreneurship & Strategy, and its Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, an interdisciplinary division serving all students on campus. The Eccles School has added many new academic and extracurricular programs for student entrepreneurs and, in 2016, opened Lassonde Studios, a five-story hub for student entrepreneurs at the University of Utah.

“We have a large and growing number of opportunities for entrepreneurs at the University of Utah, and we welcome everyone to learn more and get involved,” said Jennifer Brown, chair of the Department of Entrepreneurship & Strategy at the Eccles School. “We have leading faculty teaching entrepreneurship. These talented instructors give students the opportunity to learn about business creation in and out of the classroom.”

One of the many curriculum innovations for entrepreneurs at the Eccles School is the Master of Business Creation (MBC) program. It is focused on helping a founder grow and scale their company. The MBC program expanded for 2023 to offer an online option.

For undergraduates, the Eccles School launched the Lassonde+X program in 2019. This is a three-course program for all undergraduate students to learn the entrepreneurial mindset. Lassonde Founders is another new program for undergraduate entrepreneurs at the University of Utah. This is a residential entrepreneur community for incoming students who are active entrepreneurs.

The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute also launched a new alumni program, Lassonde for Life, in 2022. The program is open to all graduates of the University of Utah, regardless of degree, to receive lifelong support. Registering for the program is free of charge and offers workshops, networking opportunities, and more.

“The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute provides all students at the University of Utah with the opportunity to apply what they are learning in class to launch and grow a business and work for themselves when they graduate,” said Troy D’Ambrosio, executive director of the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute and assistant dean at the Eccles School. “Students at the University of Utah have access to grants, workshops, mentors, and much more to launch a company.”
